Terrorismnoun
1. the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, esp. for political purposes.
2. the state of fear and submission produced by terrorism or terrorization.
3. a terroristic method of governing or of resisting a government.
Is terrorism a tangible thing? Can you see it walking the streets? Can you go out and have coffee with it on a sunday afternoon? Can you kick it in the balls and expect it to be shocked and hurt? NO
Why is this? It's simple... "terrorism" is a word... even more so... it is a branding for someone whos thoughts and reasons may differ from your own to an extreme. Someone who attacks another for their political views is a terrorist... yes? Pure and simple, that's exactly what makes a terrorist.
With that logic, we look deeper into history. The 1960's are a good starting point. Vietnam was met by scores of protestors who opposed the "conflict" in Vietnam and our attempted regime there in. All of those protestors were, by all means of the term, terrorists. They opposed the government and some few even went through with some fairly nasty tactics. Even hippies had a dark side... terrorists.
Let's go to the US Civil War. Multitudes of people, despite the governments views on the matter, despised slavery and created things like the underground railroad. Quite a lot of blood was spilled between non military groups... terrorists.
What does that make the US and Brittan to Iran and Iraq? Oceana? Europa? Eastasia?
Let's move back to the present... the Patriot Act. These invisible bars that keep us in a prison no one can see, feel, smell, or touch... but it exists. And it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. Telling the people what they can and cannot say or do... keeping us paranoid in this blissful state of acceptance... because there is nothing we can do about it. Anyone who does think or feel differently shall soon be labled... terrorist. It's happened before, the US's Japanese "internment camps" of WWII, the concentration camps of Germany, Mao's "Cultural Revolution" (LOOK IT UP BEFORE YOU JUDGE THE WORDS), Stalins work camps, it's all happened before. Those of us who ignore the past are doomed to repeat it... and those of us who speak up are doomed to a silent death in a back alley. One mans Freedom Fighter is another mans Terrorist.
Those of us who stand for what this country truely means... freedom of thought, speech, equality... we seem to be the next step in the "War on Terror."

I'm also a southern female surrounded by firefighters throughout the day. The other 27% gets something vulgar with a "hon" or "sugar" tacked on.
